Dental bonding is a versatile treatment offered at our Trail dental clinic to address gapped teeth, cover stains, and smooth over chips and cracks in a tooth.
Improving the Appearance of Damaged Teeth
Dental bonding involves applying a tooth-coloured resin to a damaged or discoloured tooth to restore its natural colour and structure.
Cosmetic bonding services typically require little to no anesthetic or drilling, allowing the procedure to be performed on multiple teeth in a single session. Because of this, dental bonding can be a convenient treatment option to change the look of your smile.
Although dental bonding cannot fix every structural dental problem, it is a good, non-invasive, and cost-effective way to address many cosmetic issues.
The Dental Bonding Procedure
Depending on how much work is being done to your smile, your cosmetic bonding appointment could take between one and two hours.
During the bonding procedure, your dentist will apply a composite resin that has been formulated to blend with the natural colour of your teeth.
The resin will be applied where needed to cover gaps or cracks in your teeth, or give your tooth a subtly different shape. It will then be hardened before it is smoothed and polished to a natural-looking shine.
Maintenance for Bonded Teeth
After your dental bonding treatment, you won't need to do anything beyond your regular hygiene routine to maintain the appearance and structure of your new bonds. Simply treat them as you would your natural teeth by brushing twice daily, for at least two minutes each time, and flossing at least once per day.
If you have any concerns about damaging your bonding after it is done, ask your dentist for advice on which foods and drinks to avoid to help minimize wear and tear. In general, this is a strong resin that is not easy to damage.
