Our goal is to make your visit as smooth and stress-free as possible, and this page provides quick access to the resources that will help you get started.
New Patients Welcome!
Are you looking for a dentist in Trail? We are proud to welcome new patients to our dental clinic and look forward to meeting you. Our practice offers a range of dental services with a focus on dental implants and oral surgery.
Scheduling, Reminders & Cancellations
Our dental team respects your time and does our best to keep appointments and treatments running on schedule. We send appointment reminders one week in advance and the day before your visit to our clinic. If you need to cancel or postpone your appointment, we ask that you provide us with as much notice as possible.
Referred Patients
If you’ve been referred to our office, we’ll work closely with your dentist to provide a smooth and coordinated experience. Once your referral is received, our team will contact you to schedule an appointment and review any necessary information, such as X-rays, medical history, or treatment notes.
Payment & Financing
We make paying for your dental care simple with direct billing to insurance, convenient financing and flexible payment options.
Insurance Direct Billing
We will submit all insurance claims for you and are participating providers in most major dental insurance plans. We will help you receive full insurance benefits; however, you are personally responsible for your account, and we encourage you to contact us if your policy has not been paid within 30 days.
Financing
We offer financing in the form of convenient monthly payment options to help patients pay for procedures not covered by insurance.
Payment Options
We accept payment by direct deposit from your insurance provider, cash, debit, Visa or MasterCard.
Support for Anxious Patients
For Trail patients who feel anxious about dental treatment, we offer IV sedation.
IV sedation allows you to feel deeply at ease throughout your appointment while still being responsive and able to cooperate. Many patients remember little to nothing about the procedure, making it an ideal option for those with dental anxiety, a strong gag reflex, or who need longer or more complex treatments.
Our team monitors you closely, ensuring your experience is safe and comfortable from start to finish. With IV sedation, you can receive the care you need without the worry or stress.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
When coming to Trail Dental & Surgery for your first appointment, we ask that you bring your current insurance plan and, if possible, your medical history for our review.
-
How early should I arrive for my appointment?
We ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes early for your appointment. This gives you plenty of time to settle in and fill out any required forms or documentation, such as our new patient form.
-
How often should I get my teeth cleaned?
Depending on how diligent you are about your at-home care, the condition of your smile and your risk of cavities, the recommendations we provide for your preventive treatments may vary.
We recommend clients with existing conditions (gum disease, untreated cavities, frequent new cavities, root exposure, etc.) come in more frequently than those with healthy mouths and few restorations.
To help minimize the risk of further damage or decay, patients who are considered to be 'at-risk' of developing oral health issues may be recommended to see a dentist every three or four months.
For clients with healthy smiles, we recommend visiting the dentist every six months.
-
In what kind of situation would I need X-rays?
X-rays (also called radiographs) help our dental professionals spot problems that can't be seen simply by using a mirror to look into your mouth. X-rays allow us to see beneath gum tissue and between teeth.
Using X-rays, we can see the absence (or presence) of teeth in your mouth (including things like missing permanent teeth, impacted teeth, the position of your wisdom teeth and more), as well as the level of bone in your jaw, and whether it has deteriorated due to missing teeth or advanced periodontal disease.
Abscesses, cysts and calcified arteries (which can lead to a stroke) can also be seen with X-rays.

What if my insurance only covers cleaning every nine months?
Insurance policies differ in what's covered. The 'nine month rule' refers to how frequently you can have a recall exam, polish and fluoride. However, this doesn't mean that you will not be able to have your teeth cleaned.
Cleaning refers to 'scraping', or scaling/root planing. This is the removal of the deposits and stains from your teeth to help prevent your gum tissues from becoming irritated and bleeding.
