Professional teeth whitening can be a safe and effective way to remove surface stains and brighten the natural colour of your smile.
Our whitening treatments are formulated with active ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. As these ingredients break down, oxygen penetrates the tooth enamel, helping to lift stains and create a whiter appearance.
While teeth whitening is generally considered safe, repeated treatments can increase tooth sensitivity or brittleness over time. For this reason, our dental team does not recommend teeth whitening for patients under the age of 16.
At-Home Whitening
At-home teeth whitening treatments are designed for ease of use and are able to brighten your smile in a matter of days or weeks. We create custom-made whitening trays into which you place the whitening gel we provide you.
These trays can be worn for a few hours a day, preferably while you sleep, and will help you achieve a progressively brighter smile.
Typically, treatments take a few weeks for the full effect to become visible.
In-Office Whitening
We also offer in-office teeth whitening using a professional-grade whitening solution formulated to brighten your smile in just one or two visits.
This option is ideal if you have a special event coming up or prefer faster results compared to take-home whitening trays. In-office whitening can be an effective way to brighten your smile in less time.
How It Works
For at-home treatment, your dentist will provide you with custom-fitted trays, whitening solution and detailed instructions for use.
To use your at-home teeth whitening kit, apply the recommended amount of whitening gel to each tray and fit them snugly over your teeth. Follow your dentist’s instructions for wear time. Some treatments require just one to two hours per day, while others are designed for safe overnight use.
During in-office treatment, our dental team will apply the whitening solution to the trays several times over the course of your treatment, helping your teeth achieve the desired shade of whiteness.
The Results
Early results from at-home treatment can typically be seen within 10 to 14 days; a more significant change in tooth colour may be noticeable in four to six weeks.
Some stains respond to whitening better than others; badly stained or discoloured teeth may not show an improvement in colour.
In these instances, an alternative treatment to consider may be dental crowns or porcelain veneers.
